I don’t think chocolate cake gets any more redneck than Cowboy Cake. This recipe is out of the original Marlboro cook book that my husband’s mom had when he was a kid. Yes, Marlboro.

I know you’re probably thinking it might not be a good idea to make anything out of a Marlboro cook book but I can assure you that this cake is tobacco, nicotine, and tar free – and it doesn’t taste like cigarette butts. Promise!

The best part about this cake is it only requires one dish. Easy Peasy. Let’s get started..

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c flour
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c coco powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2/3 c oil
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbs vanilla
  • 2 c cold coffee

Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350.

And because it’s my birthday I ate the first piece for lunch. I advise you not to leave the knife in the cake pan because it will be literally impossible to walk by it without eating more.
