Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

4 fancy things

Sometimes life seems so hectic, and every time you think things are looking up.. BAM! You’re given another bag of lemons. Lately we’ve been just trying to dodge these little curve balls the best we can, all while keeping our positive spirits in tact! After all, adversity builds character, right? So here are a few things to be thankful for this week..

beautiful blooms

Our next door neighbor moved out a few weeks ago and she was kind enough to let us take some plants from her garden. I’m not sure what this grassy little flower is, but it sits at the bottom of our walkway, and I love how these dainty flowers curl up at night as if they’re tucked in bed for a good night’s sleep and then slowly stretch themselves out again in the morning light. Simply lovely..

venti size butterfly mug

We all know how much I love coffee, and in my opinion you can never have too many coffee cups, but this one is really special. Butterflies are kind of a sacred and spiritual creature in my life, and on an exceptionally emotional day last week I happened upon this mug in a barn full of fun junk for sale. I love when God sends little messages like this..

banana drop cookies

The other day my husband brought home over 10 pounds of over ripe bananas from his store. Given that I’ve made about 4 loaves of my amazing banana bread (I modified this recipe to make it my own) in the last couple weeks, I wanted to make something new and different. I stumbled on these divine drop cookies from Pinterest that were a breeze to whip up. YUM!

september bounty

Whenever we get permission to pick ripe fruit from friends and neighbors I feel so blessed to live in a small town with good people. With over 15 pounds of freshly picked apples and pears, my mind is spinning with recipe ideas like this delectable apple butter, and a canned apple pie filling. I have some thoughts on the pears, but honestly I’ve never really cooked with pears, any ideas out there??

Last but not least, some refridgerator motivation! I need little reminders like this sometimes..

Enjoy your weekend, and stay positive :)

petite flower pot

I love how summer always makes me want to add more color to my calm and comfortable neutral pallete. This year I’m kind of crushing on all things blue, and thanks to this little terra cotta gem, my baby maple can grow up in style.

dress pants to summer shorts

Here is a bit of refashion fun. I took some old comfy slacks that were  rather loose, and covered one side with a lace-esque stretchy material and made a cute pair of summer shorts.

I’m always looking for new ways to pretty up the bathroom. This is a plate rack with one plate from the set holding all the basic countertop essentials. I have to admit I was pretty proud of myself for coming up with this little display.

orange mango banana sorbet

On hot summer nights I love to have a cold sweet treat. This frozen refreshment is great because it has only 3 ingredients, and can be enjoyed as a smoothie before you freeze it, as a healthy popcicle, or with a spoon. It’s as simple as slicing up a few mangos and adding some pre frozen bananas and a bit of orange juice. Blend and enjoy as desired!

Summer makes me feel so full of life. The creative juices have been flowing on the mountain, unfortunately I’ve had little time to document all the new and exciting changes. This past week I’ve been so inspired by nature, and my blooming garden! I’ve been doing research about native plants in my climate, and I’ve picked a few to fill my yard. Here are a few I gathered on our evening walk..

hypericum- st. johnswort

local wildflower bouquet

These are all hardy in my neighborhood, and the violet and white lacey flowers grow wild. The pink flower is an azalia bloom, and the yellow one is from a ground cover I’m currently rooting from cuts. Find out what grows well in your area, and get planting!

Recently I picked up a gallon bag full of those letter magnets at a thrift store. We’ve had fun leaving messages for each other and  just being silly with them. Today’s note is a little reminder for myself ;)

In my house caffeine is a way of life. One of my favorite things about warm weather is iced coffee! In the morning we just brew more than we’ll drink and in the hot afternoon we pour the leftovers on ice with a bit of cream. No barista required. Delicious!

vintage thread

Here is a little preview of what’s going on in my new sewing room! I can’t wait to finish and share all my organization, and decor tips! These spools were my husband’s grandmother’s – she was a professional seamstress, and the quality of this thread is phenomenal. I feel so lucky to inherit these, and to be continuing an old family hobby.

Happy Tuesday friends. Pray that I can keep this up ;)

4 fancy things

With a million and one things going on at once it’s easy to overlook simple joys. I’m trying my hardest not to do that.. Here are a few of the many many things I am appreciating in my life this week.

new pins

Who knew we had a Dollar Store in Murphys?? I totally scored today on a quick trip after church. (more to come on thrifty thursday)

handmade vintage birthday banner

I’m totally excited for Gianna’s 1st birthday! I’m making a whole slew of decor, and this is the first finished project. (tutorial coming soon, although it’s pretty self explanitory) My hope is that she’ll hang this every year on her birthday and remember how much her mommy loves her.

diy striped lamp shade

This was one of those crazy/crafty strokes of genius. I had some cut up t-shirt strips leftover from this t-shirt refashion I did a while back. I just slipped them over the lampshade to create this striped look.

sony vaio

My other baby.  I promise to reveal my office/closet remodel on a sunnier day with better lighting.

Now I’m going to relax and enjoy the rest of my Sunday. That’s code for I’ll be crafting my fingers to the bone!

Taking a moment to enjoy the little (and not so little) things over the last week..

geometric nails

This past week the weather has been phenomenal. Sunny and 70 degrees in lovely Hathaway Pines, CA – so here is a mani  that’s ready for spring.

my backyard at sunset

We took a hike one warm afternoon and this is what we saw. Beautiful.

The dress I worked on for 12 hours, and actually finished (although I don’t have a decent picture yet). I can’t wait to see my little woman wear this for my best friend’s wedding.

Winter decided to make an appearance today and we woke up in a white winterland. I’ll probably spend most of today reading by the fire.

More to come soon on what the Lady on the mountain has been up to, including the finished dress, and some awesome banana recipes. Check back soon!
